About Buz
Every article, podcast, and guide in the BuildX Learning Center is written or directed by Buz Artiano. He's not a marketing writer guessing at building science -- he's the person who actually builds the ADUs.
Buz has over 40 years of residential construction experience in Massachusetts. He started framing houses in 1984, launched his first construction company in 1991 specializing in fire and water damage repair, sold that company in 2001, started Rebuild X in 2007, sold it to a national company in 2021, and founded BuildX in 2022. This is his third company -- and his most focused.
When Plymouth, MA passed its own ADU bylaw in late 2023, Buz pivoted hard into accessory dwelling units. BuildX built the very first ADU under the new law. Today, the company has six ADUs under construction at any given time and has conducted over 160 consultations with families across Southeastern Massachusetts.
Why Buz Writes
Buz follows the "They Ask, You Answer" philosophy: if a homeowner asks a question, it deserves a real answer -- even the uncomfortable ones about cost, timelines, and what can go wrong. Every article in the Learning Center started as a real question from a real family during a consultation, a site evaluation, or the build process.
He writes because he believes homeowners deserve honest, detailed information before they commit to a six-figure construction project. If a family reads a BuildX article and decides an ADU isn't right for them, that's a win -- because they made an informed decision instead of getting surprised mid-build.
