Why This Page Exists
We publish a lot of content -- articles, podcasts, videos, and guides about building ADUs in Massachusetts. We think you deserve to know who's behind that content, how it gets made, and why you can trust it.
Who Writes Our Content
Every piece of content on this site is written or directed by Buz Artiano, founder and CEO of BuildX. Buz has over 40 years of experience in residential construction across Massachusetts. He's not a marketing copywriter guessing at building science, he's the person who actually builds the ADUs.
Our content reflects real situations from real ADU projects. When we write about foundation types, septic challenges, or financing structures, we're drawing from jobs we've completed, not theoretical scenarios we found online.
How Articles Are Created
Our editorial process follows a consistent workflow:
- Topic selection: Topics come directly from questions homeowners ask us during consultations, site evaluations, and the build process. If multiple families are asking the same question, it becomes an article.
- Drafting: Buz provides the technical content and perspective. Our editorial team structures the article for clarity and readability while preserving his voice and expertise.
- Fact-checking: Every article is reviewed against current Massachusetts building codes, zoning regulations, and the Affordable Homes Act. Specific claims about costs, timelines, and legal requirements are verified against our actual project data.
- Review and approval: Buz reviews every article before publication. If it doesn't reflect how we actually build, it doesn't go live.
- Publication: Articles are published with a date stamp and author attribution.
How We Keep Content Accurate
Building codes change. Financing products evolve. Municipal regulations get updated. We review our published content regularly to make sure it still reflects current conditions:
- Articles referencing Massachusetts building codes or the Affordable Homes Act are reviewed when regulations change
- Cost figures are updated to reflect current material and labor pricing
- Financing articles are reviewed when interest rate conditions shift significantly
- Articles are dated so you know when they were last published or updated
Our Standards
We hold our content to a few non-negotiable standards:
- No fabricated scenarios. Every story, example, or case study comes from a real BuildX project or a real homeowner conversation. If we reference a specific situation, it happened.
- No misleading cost claims. ADU costs vary by site, design, and conditions. We give real ranges based on our actual project history, not lowball numbers designed to get you on the phone.
- No anonymous content. Buz Artiano's name is on every article and podcast because he stands behind what's written.
- No outdated advice. If something changes, we update the content. An article with wrong information is worse than no article at all.
Podcasts and Video Content
Our podcast episodes feature Buz in conversation with industry professionals -- attorneys, financial advisors, energy consultants, and other specialists who work in the ADU space. These conversations are unscripted and reflect the real questions homeowners face.
Video content showcases completed projects, testimonials from real homeowners and the construction process, giving you an honest look at what building an ADU actually involves.
